EXCLUSIVE: Printz Board talk about your new projects
When we talk about The Black Eyed Peas, we certainly think in a huge team behind the scenes and all people who work off stage making music dream come true. And one of the most important members of the BEP family has a long career journey with our favorite band. Priese Prince Lamont Board, better known as Printz Board, is not only the producer of many hits, musician, recording artist, songwriter and Grammy Award-winning, but also a long time friend of wiil.i.am, Fergie, apl.de.ap and Taboo and considered for many Peabodies (including us!) the Fifth Peas.
Printz is also an acclaimed music producer in current musical scenario, collaborating with important artists that includes names such Justin Timberlake, Michael Jackson, Selena Gomez and Katy Perry, in other words, a real hit making machine.
The album “On the Boardwalk” with The BoardMemberz (Lucy Graves, Patty Anne Miller and Ashley Dzerigian) was released on 2016 and it is the kind of mandatory on your I phone’s playlists. Mixing rhythms and exploring many different instruments on the beats make us travelling on the lyrics and it is definitely worthy!
Buy it on Apple Music, Play Store, Spotify and check “I Believe”, “I Could Spend All Night”, “Sweet Nothings” and “F****n A” and many more!
Now, his newest project, the album P.L.A.Y - put together a guy, a girl and a guitar... Seasoned with a trumpet and a piano. Hailing from different parts of the globe, this native Ohio boy and New Zealand girl have stumbled on what’s sure to be a defining tone of our future. It’s folk… It’s indie… It’s acoustic and a little bit o’ country. You feel the essence of nature, and realness, within their songs. It’s a perfect mix. It’s Parker Lane.
We talked to Printz Board about his career, journey, experiences in Brazil and also his new project, which we were pleased to have Lucy Graves talking about Parker Lane!
Check it out!
How did you start producing and what gave you the motivation to stay with it? What was the biggest challenge? What inspires you to write a song? Do you have a ritual for composition or lyrics just came by?
-I started producing when I was really young, and my Mom got me a drum machine. I didnt know what I was doing, but later I realized that was the beginning.
The biggest challenge in production ahs become satisfying each persons ego. Everyone wants something a little different. You simultaneously need to be a therapist to a lot of artists.
-Everything inspires me, from my friends, my travels, to the current affairs of the world.
-No particular ritual for those things. I just go with what comes to my brain first, and then craft it into something that makes sense.
How many instruments can you play? When did you start singing?
-I can play 5 or 6 or 7 instruments. hahaha.. Once you get the basis of some of them, you can adapt to others, like languages.
-I started with rapping before singing, when I was 13 years old. The singing came when I was about 19 or 20.
If there was one word you could use to explain your experience so far while working as a music producer, what would it be?
-Destiny
How did you meet the Peas?
-Will and I had separate bands that performed around town in similar places. Once Will, Tab and AP got signed, they asked me to join forces with them. I brought in George Pajon, and Tim Izo then. Later I brought in Keith Harris. Now I have Lucy Graves on keys, Arianna Powell on guitar and Brent Tyler on drums.
What Black Eyed Peas’ song took the longest time to be produced? Do you have an idea how many BEP songs have you produced, written or co-written? Do you have a favorite one?
-Where Is the Love was very quick to write, but the finished production took over a year.
-I dont keep count of the songs because I just look at it as my family, my home and my future. No need to keep a tally.
The Black Eyed Peas have been to Brazil many times, consequently you too. Do you have any special memory from our country? Or did anything inspire you somehow?
-Brazil is one of the only countries that we get excited to go to see the music and the culture. Its so alive with creativity, parties, dancing, great food, and a love of life.
-Always inspired by the Brazilian artists.
Not only Black Eyed Peas, but also Fergie is expected to release new material in 2017, are you working with them?
-I am working on the new Black Eyed Peas album, yes. Fergie took a different path this time to doing her album. I believe that Keith Harris produced a song on there, but other than that I dont know anything about it.
Tell us about your new project, Parker Lane.
-Parker Lane came out of nowhere. Lucy Graves and I just decided to try some songs like this and we couldnt stop! Its been so nice to do something completely different like this.
How did the project started? How long have you and Lucy Graves been working together?
-We did a cover of Mumford & Sons song, and people responded so positively that we made some originals like it.
-Lucy and I have been working together for 4 years.
Listening to P.L.A.Y, we feel an incredible harmony between you all. How was the atmosphere on studio during creating process?
-We are so connected. In the studio it is a balanced give and take. We rarely disagree, and just write like having a conversation with each other.

Watch 3AM musicvideo, the first single from P.L.A.Y.
You say that “Parker Lanes’ music brings a smile to everyone’s face, as it is positive and genderless on all levels. As this duet sings in tandem, their voices blend together as if they were born as one. Timeless. Organic. Familiar. What is the essence of P.L.A.Y? What makes it so unique? We heard that a coloring book follows the album, how did the idea come out?
-The essence of it is "positivity". As we approached it, we wanted to make sure that noone felt left out. EVERYONE is included - P.arker L.ane A.nd Y.ou.
-We have a coloring book on Amazon.com. Its called "Color with Music - P.l.a.y."
What are your future plans for 2017?
-2017 will be full of advances - New BEP album, Parker Lane performances and dabbling in another type of industry. Watch for it, and support us when you can! Spread the word. We need followers, support and love all around.
